zimbabwean marimba

my parents founded the non-profit music studio kutandara in 1999, and i grew up playing zimbabwean marimba and mbira and spending my summers in zimbabwe. i currently play marimba with teen band takapenga and sit in on vocals with professional band kutandara.

singer-songwriter

i’ve been writing poetry for so long, my dad suggested that i put it to music. i’ve spent the last year learning how to play guitar and putting my lyrics over the top.

the imaginary band

my friends and i dream and continually talk about the band we’re someday going to officially start. instead of just playing alone in our bedrooms, we’ve started jamming together, teaching each other different instruments and writing songs with deeper meaning than any of us can handle. i don’t think i can even say we’re in our garage phase because we don’t have a name or set list but most importantly don’t even play in a garage. we usually opt for the upstairs hallway of someone’s house or the basement of someone else’s. but it’s going to happen someday, i just don’t know when.
